Services Offered by the Endoscopy Department

What is the Endoscopy Department?

The Endoscopy Department specializes in conducting diagnostic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. The main goal of endoscopic screening is to detect cancer at an early stage and begin timely treatment. Using a scope to examine the lining of the digestive tract, we can detect changes in the mucous membranes. If needed, tissue samples are taken and analyzed under a microscope to determine whether the findings are benign or malignant.
Because the risk of gastrointestinal disease increases in one’s 40s, it is strongly recommended to begin regular endoscopic screenings from age 40.

Check-in

Please present your health insurance card or My Number card at the reception desk.
If you have an appointment, kindly inform the staff of your name and scheduled time.
If you are visiting for the Toshima Ward stomach cancer screening, please be sure to bring your screening voucher with you.

Consultation & Examination

When you enter the consultation room, please share your symptoms in detail with the doctor. Our gastroenterology department is led by Dr. Kotaro Oikawa, the clinic director.
Depending on your symptoms, additional tests may be recommended.If necessary, we may schedule diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy based on your consultation.

(Afternoon appointments only. Please contact us if you would like a same-day gastroscopy.)
※ Sunday appointments are available only on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, by reservation.
